Vision: What we long to see happen
In Romans 12:1, Paul writes, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship." This is what we long to see happen at LMPC.
We long to be a people growing consistently in grace because we live constantly in view of his mercy. Imagine how our homes, our community, our city, and our world would be different if we were enjoying explosive growth in grace. We might become a place where people celebrate the presence of strugglers, mourners, sinners, strangers, and hungry and thirsty wanderers. We might become a people that are no longer struggling to be free but are free to struggle. We might become a place where people are forgiving and truthful and also humble and bold.
We long to be a people who generously give our lives as living sacrifices because we are amazed by his grace. Imagine how our homes, our community, our city, and our world would be different if we were so changed. We might become a people whose life mission is to stop the bleeding in the city and heal the brokenness of the culture so that all might live under the reign of a gracious King. We might become givers rather than takers, contributors rather than consumers. We might become a people full of joy and richness because we live for others and not ourselves.
As we dream and hope, all of our longings to grow in grace and give generously of our lives must remain rooted in our ultimate desire to glorify God and worship him in all we do. Living in view of God's mercy and offering ourselves as living sacrifices is never an end in itself but is always rooted in the chief end, "to glorify God and enjoy him forever."
